Single Pose Workshop

NEW!

This summer I’m launching a brand new life drawing workshop! Spread over two days we will have a single pose, giving you the chance to really get stuck into a lovely long drawing. Each day will begin with some quick loosening up exercises, then it will be straight into the pose, which you can tackle in whatever way you please. It’s a nice opportunity to really slow down, and evolve and revisit one drawing (or painting) over two days, or to have a go at several. We will break for tea and biscuits and have a one hour lunch break. Please bring lunch, or alternatively Savages Farm Shop and Cafe is just across the road. Drawing materials are provided and paper is sold at cost, but feel free to bring paints and a canvas if you would like to. You can book for one or both days.

Materials

So you are free to experiment I provide basic materials for you to help yourself to. Including charcoal, conté, pastels, ink, wash, white paint, pencils, rubbers, brushes and so on. There are boards, easels and donkeys for you to use. As well as masking tape, clips, jam jars and dishes (which make great paint pallets). Newsprint and cartridge papers can be purchased at cost (just pop some coins in the tin).

Life Class

Drawing is a means of communicating your ideas and sharing your observations. Whether you are a professional artist or a beginner, life drawing is like exercise for your eyes, and everyone can benefit from it.

During the Life Class you'll tackle a series of liberating exercises, designed to free you up and be honest about what you see. From blind drawing to negative spaces. You'll get to experiment with a range of materials, draw with chalk on sticks, practice measured drawing, tackle moving poses and find the model amongst a jumble of furniture.

Each week the group is given an exercise, but the critique is always individually focused, with no ‘right’, ‘wrong’ or ‘expected’ outcome, but rather a goal of individual development and original expression. So that beginners and practising artists alike are equally challenged and supported. The outcome being a continuous maturing of skill and confidence, in a relaxing and supportive environment.

We break for cups of tea and biscuits. I aim to end each session with some longer poses so that you have time to do your own thing and put what you've learnt into practice.
