I wanted to create a course to navigate the winter and this is it! Explore the slow, gentle rhythm of collage making with me and inject some colour into the darkest months of the year. Learn how to transform simple drawings into colourful and evocative collages. Consider how collaging can compliment and enhance your broader practice. In this small, online group we’ll explore technique, composition and colour palettes as I work alongside you to share the calming experience of painting with paper.

Materials

As this is an online class you will be using your own materials. You will need basic drawing materials such as pencils, charcoal, a rubber and paper (and anything else you enjoy using - I use watercolour crayons, Posca pens, Stabilo Woody pencils). You will also need glue (I use wallpaper paste, but PVA or other paper glue is fine), scissors and paper for collaging onto and with. We will explore making our own collage papers, and for this you will need paper (I use newsprint or cartridge), paints (of any kind), or other material to apply colour to paper (I have used crayons, charcoal, pen etc). You may also want to collect some papers to use, which could include patterned papers, tissue, sugar paper, as well as magazines and newspaper and even fabrics. There are no hard and fast rules so if something inspires you then try it!

Cancellation Policy

If you miss an in person class you are very welcome to send a friend in your place. If you miss an online class I will send you the recording. Unfortunately I am unable to fill places or to offer refunds for missed classes.

If I cancel a class I will in the first instance provide an alternative date for the cancelled class. If I am unable to arrange an alternative date then I will refund you for the cancelled class. I will not be able to refund you if I have offered an alternative date.

For termly classes, if I cancel a class during the term I will in the first instance provide an alternative date for the cancelled class. If I am unable to arrange an alternative date then I will refund you for the cancelled class. I will not be able to refund you if I have offered an alternative date. For workshops, if I cancel the workshop I will offer you the choice of a place on the rescheduled workshop (if available), or a full refund.

If you would like to cancel your booking please notify me as soon as possible, and no later than two weeks before the start of term or workshop for a full refund. If you cancel less than two weeks before the start of term or workshop, where possible I will attempt to fill your place, and if successful will provide a full refund. However I cannot guarantee this and will not be able to provide a refund if your place is not filled.
